Yesterday was a good day to live. I ate a wide variety of meat for a start. I had lamb, beef, pork, chicken and seafood (squid). I also went and saw Terminator: Salvation too, which induced much fanboy squeeing and stuff.
I'm a big fan of the franchise, so the possibility of disappoint was great. But thankfully I loved it. It didn't matter that the focus of the story was Marcus, cos it all made sense plotwise. The special fx were flawless. The flesh-less terminators looked a lot better than any previous incarnation. Plus of course there's the T800 at the end that has Arnie's face CGI'd on to someone elses' body.
Plotwise, I can see no reason for it to not follow on from any of the films. Which means those folk who didn't like 3 can still ignore it, whilst people who, like me, did enjoy it, can still include it in the timeline. It was interesting seeing Cyberdyne still existing in 2003, but obviously working on new and different projects since it's previous work had been destroyed.
