I just discovered an article about M$ joining forces with Open ID. *boggles* Hopefully they don't corrupt it cos Open ID is a really cool idea. Some of you may have seen it in action on some of the various things I've written, like my RSS aggregator.
It's a cunning idea, that rather than using a username and password to authenticate someone, you provide a URL and that URL confirms or denies it. So, for example, I can use themadone.livejournal.com on a site that supports Open ID and LJ tells the site if I'm really me or not.
So far I've not seen anywhere else use it except LJ though.
