This evening has been surprisingly interesting. I decided to get off my butt and go and see "A Lot Like Love", which was not a lot like what I thought the plot was but I still enjoyed it. It's precisely what you'd expect for a rom-com. Lots of funny bits and romantic bits too. More romantic than comedy though, so a distinct lack of vomiting walrii

The journey was in some ways far more interesting. Don't get me wrong - the film was good - but it can't beat plagues of insects and a full on fire and brimstone rant.

The air was thick with flying ants. Bloody annoying things, much like normal ants I guess. Just flying about inanely. It wasn't as if like normal ants they were flying about collecting crap to eat or build a nest with. Just flying about and trying their best to get up my nose. Thankfully they failed.

As I walked to the cinema, I debated whether or not I'd find somewhere selling a bottle of water so I could take my meds or whether I should pop by Books etc and kill time. Turns out I need not have bothered thinking about it, as instead I got jumped by someone trying to convince me to become a Christian.

Ended up spending about 10-15 minutes attempting to discuss religion with her. Mostly she seemed to accept whatever I had to say, but then would say it wasn't The Truth and that only Jesus was The Truth. I think the most amusing part was that she freely accepted that she had experienced god and yet when I told her about a friend who communed with angels. She dismissed this as being more likely to be demons in disguise, since the devil was an angel wasn't he.

Pretty hardcore bunch whoever they are (their website is www.fowm.org) as they think even having lustful thoughts is a sin. I must admit I did mostly think she was chatting me up at first and she wasn't half bad looking either, so my mind wasn't completely devoid of lusty thoughts somewhere I'd bet.

Annoyingly she gave up just as I was starting to enjoy myself and gave me a bit of paper warning me that I had to love Jesus or else my soul wouldn't be saved. Which I guess was a good thing as I managed to make it to the cinema in time to see the film. Would have been kinda miffed to have spent a few more minutes chatting and then missed it. Although I could have seen War of the Worlds instead I guess.

Was this in Staines?

I think that I've encountered this person before...

Quite young? Blond hair? Enthusiastic lean? Slightly... brainwashed look?

Am I close?

I wouldn't say she was "enthusiastic" lean, probably about average. Could be the same person I guess, but I didn't get a name. Should have got her number :)

For that heady mix of dating and religious condemnation, perhaps?

Yes, I remember her. The last time that I saw her around was during the cinema release of The Passion of the Christ. At that time, her particular brand of religious convertion included fliers for the film.

How... commercial.

Well we'd never lack for something to talk about. *grins*

Surprised about her advertising FOR the film. Most Christian groups were denouncing the film as evil etc...

Pope John Paul II loved the film though, apparently! :)
These ones in staines are highly annoying and their church is based in Africa and is very anti-gay, and highly intolerant of ther relgions - I personally don't like them.
Hehehehe... demons, they say... I want to find this lady now and have words with her :D

I like finding evangelical Christian people in the street and breaking them by quoting the Bible at them. It is a fun new hobby I have found! I did it the other day to this guy in Victoria Street, poor izzy_stradlin, mistress_fran and vierkilau had to wait around while I did it! ooops... *grins non-evilly*

That webpage is scary by the way. It tried to talk to me but my computer was being skippy and wonkulent with the sound...

Well she's pretty much agreeing with my vorlon theory in some ways. But it's amusing that she's effectively denoucing your beliefs even though they are meant to be similiar? Maybe she's there every night? I'm expecting to be going again to the cinema tomorrow - maybe I'll get to talk to her again? Although this time I'll have darklittlefox with me and he's far scarier than me :D

Ahhh, but she seems to be of one of those sorts of churches that think any other Christians are bad and wrong, let alone any non-Christians, and that only they can be saved. The sort of thought behind such wonders as Jack Chick's comics and the like...

Even though Jesus preached tolerance and understanding of one's fellow humans, they seem to neglect this fact, something I never fail to tell them :)

Try quoting 1 Corinthians 1:10 (about divisions within the church) or Galatians 3:26-28 (about everyone being equal before Jesus), the latter gets them every time if they argue about their church being better than anybody else's! :)

Well I didn't actually mention what religion you were. She'd just said something along the lines of that she believed that there were things of a spiritual nature, so I cited you as an example. Imagine she thought you were some misguided pagan who had been at the old book of summoning or something.

Mmmm, books of summoning... and look where they got me! doh!!!
I wasn't expecting it to work. Oh well!

It got you in touch with your spirituality - I'm certainly envious of that.

*slaps you upside the head* Weren't you paying attention - I was going to see a film :)

And before you say anything, it wasn't the sort of film I'd take a random stranger to. Now tonight, maybe I could drag her along with me and darklittlefox on whatever fun and mayhem we're planning :)

Yeah, I noticed the flying ants too. Bloody everywhere.
